She is definitely one of my favorite writers in the Christian fiction world and historical fiction, in general. Charlotte does end up having a happy ending, but her journey to get there is full of pain. However, my biggest problem was the lack of sin. Milkweeds were pretty enough when the flowers bloomed, but when the grey-green pods aged to a dull silver, the reedy stalks held little aesthetic value at milkwede.

This book is positioned as inspirational and Christian Romance, so I understand and enjoyed that the interaction between Charlotte and Daniel was chaste and appropriate for the times and their relative stations in life.
